This Day in Football History: The Body Bag Game

On November 12, 1990, The Washington Redskins lost 28-14 in what became known as “The Body Bag Game”.  Eight Washington Redskins were injured during the course of the game including both Redskin quarterbacks, Jeff Rutledge and Stan Humphries.  Running back Brian Mitchell ended up finishing the game at quarterback for the Eagles.

However, the Redskins lost the battle, but won the war as they defeated the Eagles 20-6 in the Wild Card round of the playoffs at Veterans Stadium in what proved to be Buddy Ryan’s last game as Eagles Head Coach.  Ryan finished his tenure with an 0-3 record in the playoffs.
